The Medford Democratic City Committee will hold a caucus on Saturday, March 16, 2024 to elect Medford delegates and alternates to the 2024 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.
The 2024 Medford Democratic caucus will be held in person at Medford’s City Hall in the Alden Chambers starting at 10:00 a.m. Doors & registration will open at 9:30 a.m.
This year’s state convention will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the DCU Center in Worcester. This is an important year for the Democratic Party – the convention will allow members of the party to voice their support for Senator Elizabeth Warren, our nominee for United States Senate, as well as work on strategies to help get more Democrats elected across our Commonwealth and nationally.
The March 16th Caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Medford. Pre-registered Democrats who will be 16 years of age by caucus date will be allowed to participate and run as a Delegate or Alternate. Any person not shown on the Democratic party registration list must either provide proof of Democratic Party registration (or pre-registration) or register (or pre-register) prior to the close of the caucus registration period. Registration shall open at 9:30 a.m. and will remain open until all persons presenting themselves by 10:15 a.m. have registered.
Immediately following the caucuses, the Ward Committees will also elect delegates to the Massachusetts Senatorial District Conference. The Conference, scheduled for March 23 at 2:00 p.m., will select a female member of the Democratic State Committee to represent the Second Middlesex district. [Update 2024-03-15: The Senatorial District Conference was cancelled after one of two candidates withdrew her nomination.]
Youth, people of color, veterans, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are not elected as delegates or alternates at the caucus may apply for an add-on spot at https://massdems.org/massdems-convention/.
