Statement and Position of the Medford Democratic City Committee on violence against the AAPI Community

The Medford Democratic City Committee is a group of dedicated volunteers working to support Democratic candidates, goals, and priorities at the local, state and national levels. We stand with the Democratic Party in supporting equity & fairness among all races.

We are heartbroken by the recent attacks on Asian Americans, and in particular last week’s murders of 8 individuals in Atlanta, Georgia, where six of the eight victims were Asian American women. We strongly condemn these senseless acts of violence and hate. While so many of us are still processing our shock, we remain strong and committed to supporting all members of our Asian American/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPI) community.

Action starts at the local level and that includes awareness, education, and commitment to seeking change. Reaching out to your elected representatives and making sure you’re voting in every election can combine in effecting the changes everyone seeks in helping to create a more equal and fair world.

The Medford Democratic City Committee is always open to all interested Democrats. We, as a committee, look forward to working with everyone in the community to create a better environment in which individuals and businesses in every corner of our city, people of every race and every political affiliation, can thrive. Please visit https://medforddems.org/ for more information about the group.

Stay safe!
