Medford ward caucuses on Feb. 22

On February 22 at 10:00am, the Medford ward committees will hold their caucuses to select delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic Convention. The convention will take place Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the DCU Center in Worcester. This year the convention is an endorsing convention, where candidates for our statewide offices will seek to earn the nomination of the party delegates.

Ward caucus locations vary by ward:

Ward 2: Medford City Hall, Mayor’s Office/Conference Room, 85 George P. Hassett Drive
Ward 3: Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Regis College Nursing & Radiography Programs, 170 Governors Ave
Ward 4: Tufts University, Halligan Hall, Room 111 A, 161 College Ave
Ward 5: South Medford Fire Station, 0 Medford St
Ward 6: West Medford Community Center, 111 Arlington St
Ward 7: Medford City Hall, Alden Chambers, 85 George P. Hassett Drive
Ward 8: Medford Senior Center, 101 Riverside Ave

All are welcome to attend the caucuses. Any individual registered as a Democrat as of January 31, 2014, may vote in the caucus for the ward in which he or she is registered. Only those present may vote or be nominated as delegate candidates. (Members of the U.S. armed forces that are unable to attend may request to be eligible for nomination by writing to the ward chair prior to February 8.)

Description: The purpose of the caucus is to elect delegates to the State Convention being held at the Tsongas Center, University of Lowell, on June 1st July 13, 2013. A Medford Democratic meeting will follow immediately after the Caucus.

Medford Democratic Reorganization Meeting

Title: Medford Democratic Reorganization Meeting
Location: Medford City Hall, Alden Chambers
Description: Those elected to, or wishing to join, Medford Democratic ward committees should attend the reorganization meeting. Officers will be elected for the City Committee and each Ward Committee for the next two years, and additional members can be added at the discretion of the elected members.

Ward caucuses

Ward caucuses for all eight wards will take place Saturday, February 5, at 10am at Medford City Hall. Each ward will elect delegates to the State Convention. The Convention will be held in Lowell at the Tsongas Center at UMASS Lowell on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Aspiring delegates must arrive to the caucus on time!

Registered Democrats in Medford will be holding a caucus to elect delegates/alternates to the  Massachusetts Democratic Convention on  February 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.  The caucuses will be held in the following locations to elect delegates:

Ward 1: Medford City Hall, 185 George Hassett Dr, Room 201
Ward 2: Medford City Hall, Mayor’s Office
Ward 3: Medford City Hall, Alden Chambers
Ward 4: Tufts University, Halligan Hall, 161 College Ave, Room 111A (parking is authorized across the street in the Cousens Gym parking lot)
Ward 5: South Medford Fire Station, 0 Medford St, Community Room
Ward 6: Medford VFW, 114 Mystic Ave, Alden Chambers
Ward 7: Medford City Hall, Room 207
Ward 8: Medford VFW, 114 Mystic Ave, Small room

*Parking has been authorized for the Cousens Gym Parking Lot across the street at 161 College Ave.

The Convention will be held on Friday June 4th and Saturday June 5th at the DCU Center in Worcester. At that time, Democrats from across the state will gather to endorse statewide candidates.

Discrimination on the basis of race, sex, age, color, creed national origin, disability, religion, ethnic identity, sexual orientation or economic status in the conduct of the caucus is strictly prohibited.  Challenges to the delegate selection process can be filed with the Massachusetts Democratic Party, 56 Roland Street, Suite 203, Boston, Ma. 02129 no later than ten days after the caucus date.

Reminder: Civic engagement event Thursday
